Big cap financials had a good week. American Express (AXP) is up 5% on better than expected earnings. American Express easily beat expectations as sales rose 11.0% to $18.43 billion. American Express also raised guidance as demand for AMEX new high end, Platinum card exceeded expectations with the strongest start to a new refresh card ever. American Express has always catered to the high end consumer who are doing very well in this economy.

President Trump wants lower drug prices. Eli Lilly (LLY) is down 3% as President Trump made comments on Novo Nordisk’s drug Ozempic. President Trump said the “the fat loss drug,” costs roughly $1,000 for a month’s supply and he expects the cost of the drug, made by Novo, will soon be “much lower” soon. Lilly sells similar treatments, including Mounjaro and Zepbound.
