The major averages closed mixed on a quiet Friday as investors continue to monitor the latest developments out of the Middle East. The Dow Jones Industrial Average

Rose 35 points or 0.08% to 42,206. The S&P 500 fell 13 points or 0.22% while the Nasdaq fell 98 points or 0.51%.

The tech sector was hit after the Wall Street Journal reported that the U.S. may revoke waivers for some semiconductor manufacturers. Nvidia was down more than 1%, while Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing slid nearly 2% while Micron rose over a percent ahead of earnings next week. Big cap tech was weak except for Apple up 2%

Bonds were quiet even as one Fed governor said they could cut rates as soon as July. The 10-year yield was down a basis point to 4.37%. The 30-year bond yield was flat at 4.89%. The 2-year note yield fell more than 3 basis points to 3.90%.

In the commodity space, oil remains elevated due to tensions in the Middle East. Energy stocks were modestly higher today. Gold and bitcoin were lower in the day.
