Western Digital (WDC) jumps 5% to a new high on better than expected earnings last week. Western Digital and rivals jumped today after news from Samsung Electronics said they would delay setting contract prices for DDR5 memory chips as spot prices tripled. Samsung halted its October pricing announcements for DDR5 memory chips, pushing them to mid-November as spot market prices surged.
Kimberly-Clark (KMB) takes a hit down 13% as they buy out the Tylenol maker, Kenvue for $40 billion, one of the biggest takeovers of the year. The combination would create a global health-and-wellness company with annual revenues of approximately $32 billion and 10 billion-dollar brands, including Kimberly-Clark’s household staples such as Kleenex tissues and Cottonelle toilet paper and Kenvue’s products such as Tylenol and Listerine mouthwash. Kenvue came under pressure recently as the Trump administration accused the Tylenol drug having active ingredients that had the potential of causing autism.
