Amazon (AMZN) the big winner so far this quarter. Amazon is up 10% thanks to strong cloud computing growth with AWS sales climbing 20% to $33 billion.  The unit generated operating income of $11.4 billion or nearly two-thirds of overall operating profits. Revenue in the digital advertising business jumped 24% to $17 billion. Total sales at Amazon climbed 13% to $180 billion, topping estimates as Amazon maintains a deep moat around their core businesses driven by their unmatched scale. Analysts at Pivotal and Telsey upgraded the stock with $300 price targets.

eBay (EBAY) pulls back following earnings. The auction giant is down 3% to a two month low as even though earnings were good while sales rose  9.5% to $2.82 billion, guidance was not great as the tariffs on imports are starting to bite. CFO Peggy Alford said the suspension of the de minimis exemption for imports under $800 for tariffs in late August began to negatively impact transaction volumes in September.
