Its official, Micron (MU) is breaking ground in Central New York. The DRAM chipmaker is up 4% on insider buying, following strong earnings from Taiwan Semi the other day. For Central New Yorker’s, Micron is officially breaking ground on their $100 billion memory manufacturing complex in Clay New York. Production is expected to start in 2030, but create thousands and then tens of thousands of jobs. If Micron builds four factories in Clay, it would employ 9,000 workers and create 40,000 spin off or ancillary jobs in other sectors, including thousands of jobs to build the plants or fabs.
Software is not participating in 2026. Salesforce (CRM) is down 2% today and down 11% this week and over 30% in the last year due to growing concerns that AI will reduce the need for certain software platforms that make it obsolete. Verizon (VZ) is another dog today and this week with outages affecting a number of clients particularly in New York.
