The major averages closed higher, rallying into the close, snapping a losing streak ahead of Nvidia’s earnings tonight. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 47 points after being in the red for most of the day. The S&P 500 rose 24 points or 0.38% while the Nasdaq rose 131 points or 0.59%.

Nvidia closed up nearly 3% lifting the sector today ahead of earnings. Only AMD and Micron were lower in the chip space. Alphabet/ Google was also a winner, up 3% after Warren Buffet disclosed a position in the stock over the weekend. Google’s new generation of AI, Gemini 3 will be rolled out soon. Only Microsoft and Meta were lower among the large cap techs.

Financials had a good day even as bonds were quiet again. The yield on the 10-year Treasury rose a basis point to 4.13%. The 2-year note rose a basis point to 3.59%, while the 30-year bond ticked higher by a basis point to 4.75%.

The rest of the sectors were quiet today.

In the commodity space, energy stocks were lower as the price of oil dropped nearly 2% below $60 a barrel again. Gold was quiet still above $4000. Crypto currencies remain the weakest category of late down nearly 3% for bitcoin and more for the other crypto currencies.
