TJX (TJX) reports strong earnings. The discount retailer is up 4% after beating estimates by 8 cents as sales rose 7.7% $12.76 billion. Customers are flocking to the lowest priced stores seeking value via the off-price channels for back to school items. Target (TGT) is higher by 2% even though their earnings were not as spectacular as TJX.

Vietnamese EV maker VinFast (VFS) is falling 24% after coming public yesterday with a market valuation of $86 billion worth nearly as much as GM and Ford combined. The EV maker has only started selling their cars in the US and only in California for now.
