March Madness

The Dow is looking to be positive for the ninth day in a row, a record not seen since 1997. This stealth bull market run has not been accompanied by any volume to speak of, which has caused some concern amongst market players. Some are blaming the low volume on March Madness, the yearly feast of basketball and chicken wings that dominates trading desks around the country. You could also probably blame the low volume on the pending passage of "historic" health care reform (maybe another form of March Madness). I think the main reason the volume is off, is that it is the Ides of March, and there won't be much news coming out until earnings season begins again in earnest during the 2nd and 3rd weeks of April. Good volume or not, the trend is higher.
