Netflix (NFLX) led the S&P 500 and the FAANG stocks higher. The video-streaming company is up 4% today and up 14% in the last four trading days after releasing their own blockbuster movie, Bird Box. So far, 45 million Netflix accounts or a third of their total accounts have already watched the movie, the best first 7 days ever for a Netflix film. While down 30% from their all-time highs, Netflix is still up nearly 40% for the year. Not bad.

Facebook (FB) closed on a down note. The social network firm closed down 2% today and down 27% for the year as data privacy concerns grow among users. A Privacy International study has determined that "at least" 20 out of 34 popular Android apps are transmitting sensitive information to Facebook without asking permission, including Kayak, MyFitnessPal. It looks like Facebook will have more explaining to do in the New Year.
