Gold is golden today. Newmont Mining (NEM) is the diamond today up 3.66% as gold continues to rebound as the major averages crumble. A 2% decline in the Dow and a nearly 3% decline in the Nasdaq sent investors fleeing to the gold standard today. Hedge fund and private equity firms have been buying up gold recently giving verification to the rebound. What do they know that we don't ?

Dog of the Day. Everything, but gold. On the NYSE decliners outpaced advancing stocks 12 to 1. While new lows outpaced new highs 45 to 1. Ugly day today.
