LipoScience Inc. (LPDX)

LipoScience is exploding today (admist a sharp market decline), up 62.70% to $5.19. The nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) company saw it shares pop after news that it would be acquired by Laboratory Corp. of America Holdings. NMR is being used to measures patients' cholesterol level and help manage heart disease. The all-cash deal is worth $85.3 million and helped to push shares of LipoScience to a new 52-week high of $5.22 intraday.

OMNOVA Solutions Inc. (OMN)

OMNOVA Solutions is falling hard today, down 18.54% to $5.71. The polymer and specialty chemical company watched its shares crash after worse than expect earnings. For the third quarter net income came in at $1.8 million or $0.04 per shares; down significantly from $9 million ($0.19 per share) last year. CEO Kevin McMullen said that the results were very disappointing and due to a steep decline in North American sales. Shares of OMNOVA fell over $1.30 to a new 52-week low of $5.67 intraday.
