Yum! Brands (YUM) jumps 7% after serving up better than expected earnings. The conglomerate owner of Taco Bell, KFC and Pizza Hut beat earnings expectations with 15% growth while global sales rose 3%. KFC, contributing 53% of divisional operating profit, but better than expected guidance from a struggling Pizza Hut gave investors optimism that a turnaround is working.
Profit-taking in Palantir (PLTR) and Uber (UBER) after spectacular earning results. Both companies performed well in the third quarter with upside guidance, but with most stocks well up for the year, investors were in the selling mood today taking profits on both stocks. Palantir finished down 7% while Uber was down 5%.
