UPS (UPS) jumps 8% on earnings. The global shipping giant easily beat earnings expectations as sales actually fell 3% to $21.4 billion. The company also provided upside guidance cost and permanent job cuts of 34,000 have improved profitability. A number of the cost cuts are due to reduced business with Amazon. In the third quarter, Amazon’s total volume with UPS fell 21.2%, executives said on an earnings call, compared with a 13% decline for the first half of the year.

Profit-taking in Royal Caribbean (RCL). The cruise line giant is down 7% even as they beat estimates as sales rose 5% to $5.15 billion. The fourth quarter guidance was not great as Royal Caribbean said current weather issues are hurting business and the closure of one of their destinations in Haiti has caused the first to scramble for new venues. Longer term, the cruise liner is bullish about 2026.
