The major averages closed mixed as President Donald Trump announced a U.S.-Vietnam trade deal while private payrolls surprisingly decreased in June, which raised concerns over the state of the U.S. economy. The Dow Jones Industrial Average slipped 10 points to 44,484. The S&P 500 rose 29 points or 0.47% while the Nasdaq Composite

 advanced 190 points or 0.94% points.

The S&P 500 saw a boost after Trump posted on Truth Social about the deal between the U.S. and Vietnam. The deal includes a 20% tariff on imports from Vietnam. Shares of Nike which actually manufactures nearly half of their footwear in Vietnam actually rose 4% on the day.

The major banks all passed their stress tests from the Federal Reserve. Bank of America (BAC), Wells Fargo (WFC) and Bank of New York (BK) were all up over a percent today. Wells Fargo made a new high as they raised their dividend 12.5%.

Healthcare took it on the chin as Centene dropped 40% after pulling full year guidance for the quarter. The health insurance company said its Medicaid plans and insurance plans are experiencing higher costs, slower growth and sicker patients and higher deaths than expected. All the HMOs were lower.

In the commodity space, oil rose 3% to $67 a barrel. Gold was up half a percent while bitcoin jumped 3.5%.
