Day Traders Diary

4/24/19

Stocks slipped from record levels on Wednesday following a mixed batch of corporate earnings. AT&T, Chevron, Caterpillar and Exxon dragged the Dow and S&P 500 lower. A bidding war in the oil patch has Chevron and Occidental Petroleum fighting over Anadarko Petroleum which closed up 11%. One of the few oil stocks to finish in the green.

As earnings wind down, investors will focus on US and China trade talks. U.S. Trade Representatives including Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin will travel to China for another round of trade talks on April 30, ahead of the May 8th meeting in Washington.
