The S&P 500 gained 0.4% on Wednesday, as moderating inflation and assurance from central banks to keep rates on hold provided the broader market some support. The Nasdaq Composite (+0.7%) and the Russell 2000 (+1.4%) both outperformed, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average finished little changed. The top banking CEOs were grilled by the Democratic-controlled House today. The roughly six hours of testimony touched on the financial crisis, probes, capital rules, wages, interest rates, the economy, the Federal Reserve, China, climate change, gender equality, diversity, cybersecurity and cryptocurrencies, as well as how banks serve rural areas, small businesses, millennials, immigrants in the DACA program, gun makers, prisons, fossil-fuel companies, car buyers, home buyers and people living in Guam. Former Goldman Sachs CEO, Lloyd Blankfein sent a message out on Twitter saying, "Boy, I really miss my old job!!!,"
